 note = {Advancement of the surgical treatment on head and neck cancer has been closely related、vith that of
radiotherapy,chemotherapy and/or reconstructive surgery in the systern of cancer therapy.The philoso―
phy for surgicalrnanagement on head and neck cancer has been changing frorn the radical cancer ablation
tO the functional and cosmetic dissection、vith full recovery. Next four points are discussed as the key
issues of the frontiers of surgical treatinent for head and neck cancer:1)surgical approaches for the
preservation of both the shape and functions on the resection of sinonasal and oropharyngeal cancer,2)
surgical management of aerodigestive carcinomas and voice rehabilitation follo、ving laryngopharyn―
goesophagectomy,3)neck dissection,and 4)radical surgical treatrnent for carcinomas on the boundaries
of head and neck.
